Description

Two different model system for automatic detection and enforcement for excess speed vehicle have been designed and implemented. The first model based on measurement punctual vehicle speed, the second model based on ANPR and processing average speed

Results/Lessons Learnt

The automated enforcement process applies the provisions of the Road Code (all’Articolo 142 C.d.S). To date, the automatic enforcement, without immediate and no local or remote validation by an official public, can be executed through the use of systems approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure. The type of speed control is: detection of instantaneous and medium speed limits. System logic architecture composed by: A series of peripheral detection systems for capturing vehicle violation or passage with its own digital encryption and signature, A central data computer that collects data by certifying its source and non-alteration. A series of work station deployed of POlice Department where official publics check and legally sign the verbal products. The system provides a connection with external databases for the validation of vehicle type recognition. In peripheral systems, the system manages the automatic capture of detected data and its security, In central systems, the system automatically handles the creation, recording, saving of documents, In client systems, the system manages verifying and printing automated notifications. The systems can operate in two modes: Calculation of punctual speed through non-invasive sensors and Calculation of the average speed on a defined road segment, through the recognition of vehicle license plates with OCR algorithm. Optical technologies are equipped with infrared recognition to minimize cases of insufficient brightness of the scene
